Hi and welcome back I’m Character 32 and I am here to help you!

I stumbled across a book back in November 2014 on my mission to find out what was going on with my health which turned out to be a game changer! This simple, quick, easy to read book was the holy grail of the health world I had been looking for. This was the start of my new health revolution which has completely changed the way I look at eating choices and nutrition.

I discovered I had a ‘leaky gut’ and it was the answer no western doctor had provided. All of a sudden everything became clear to me, all my health issues I had been dealing with since birth were real (and not just in my head!).

If I hadn’t come across ‘Reverse My Disease Today by Ken Drew and Dr. Patel’ then I am sure I would still be trying to work out what was going on with me, and I would probably be taking ‘Big Pharma’ medication because I was heading down hill fast!  

Since learning about Leaky Gut I started doing more research as I believe it’s always a great idea to keep on researching. The more you research, the more you learn, and the more questions you have means the more answers you will find...


So what is leaky gut you ask?

It’s inflammation within your intestinal gut lining. When we eat and drink it makes its way through the body going through our intestines. When the intestines are inflamed particles like undigested food ‘leak’ into our body.


Why leaky gut so bad?

It affects your entire body as the inflammation causes illness in the body. Our body can’t absorb its nutrition properly so it begins to break down. The body is trying to deal with the unwanted waste that should have passed through, plus it’s trying to deal with the inflammation, all the while it’s unable to retain the vital nutrients it needs to heal itself.


What are the main causes leaky gut?

  • Too many antibiotics (which is also in your food supply)
  • Pesticides
  • Chemicals in food and water
  • Processed foods
  • Artificial sweeteners/sugars
  • Medications
  • Infections
  • Parasites
  • Candida
  • Gluten (and other gut inflammation foods like corn and soy)
  • GMO foods that are sprayed with harmful chemicals
  • Excessive alcohol 
  • Heavy metal exposure (think amalgam fillings)
  • Stress (Big 3 Stressors)


What are the main symptoms of leaky gut?

If you feel bloated all the time, have constant brain fog (foggy head), have heartburn, feel tired all the time or have any of the following problems then chances are you have a leaky gut

  • Brain (Depression, Anxiety, ADHA, Autism)
  • Skin (Acne, Rosacea, Eczema)
  • Thyroid (Hashimotos, Hypothyroidism, Graves)
  • Colon (Constipation, Diarrhea, Inflammation Bowel Disease)
  • Adrenals (Fatigue)
  • Joints (Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Headaches)
  • Sinus and Mouth (Frequent Colds, Food Sensitivities)
  • Autoimmune Diseases (Alopecia, Multiple Sclerosis, Vitiligo)

How do you fix a leaky gut?

Every doctor has a different theory however let’s just start with the basics. All foods that cause inflammation in the body should be reduced or eliminated as soon as possible, and I know it sounds hard but it’s worth it (trust me!). Start with the small changes so you don’t put too much pressure or stress on yourself. Stressing yourself out about this is only going to make it worse.

Eliminate all processed and junk foods, anything with GMO’s, Artificial Sweeteners, Refined Sugar, Gluten and gut irritating foods like Corn and Soy, and reduce acidic foods.

Try eating inflammation fighting foods like lots of Green Vegetables, Turmeric, Ginger, Tart Cherries, Avocadoes, Garlic, Pineapple, Celery, Blueberries, Beetroot, Coconut Oil, Flaxseed, Chia, Lemongrass, Mint, Apples, Kale, Coriander (Cilantro), and Basil.

Start taking good probiotics like Kombucha Tea, Kefir, Sauerkraut, Kimchi and I know people are asking why not yogurt? Well you can have yogurt however sometimes the beneficial bacteria get killed off during the pasteurization process.

Up your prebiotic foods by eating RAW Garlic, Asparagus, Chives, Onion, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (I use Bragg’s Organic Apple Cider Vinegar), Avocado, and Peas.

Your body will only react to stress when it’s under stress, and in this case, Leaky Gut could be from any of the ‘Big 3’stresses. There are many reasons for people to have a leaky gut however it’s becoming more of an issue for people these days.

We now live in a world on fast everything! Everything it seems is going full steam ahead and we are trying to keep it up with it. Take out and fast foods are becoming more prevalent in today’s society. We seem to be so busy we are constantly eating on the run, ordering food in, as we look for the quick and easy way to eat our next meal.

Our bodies are under the ‘Big 3’ stresses and we are feeding the beast of physical stress when we consume quick, processed and fast foods through environmental stresses. Then when we are tired, exhausted and feel overwhelmed from lack of nutrition our emotional stress begins to rise. This can happen when we are unable to think clearly from fatigue as we are ‘mentally’ overloaded aka we ‘feel stressed’.

Your body is trying to fight inflammation which it can’t do when it’s constantly under constant stress.

It’s up to you to make a decision if you are willing to change your lifestyle and incorporate a newer and cleaner way of eating. I believe balance is key in life however when trying to heal your leaky gut there will need to be a short period of time where you need to be strict with what you eat.

It’s completely up to you, if you don’t want to make changes in your daily life, you will continue to have Leaky Gut and that will lead to a life of Big Pharma dependence. As the body becomes under more stress through its overload the more it will react. It will be a downwards spiral of your health, that not only you will have to deal with, but it will impact those around you as well.

So if you are serious about stress solutions and don’t what the ‘Big 3’ stresses impacting your life, then at some point changes need to be made.

Remember my motto for positive change is ‘Little Puzzle Pieces Create a Big Picture’… Start with small changes as it’s much less stressful than diving in head first. I find the people who go in ‘all guns blazing’ end up stressed and unable to commit to the changes they need to make.
