Whilst on my mini road tripping adventure around California, a friend and I went to Joshua Tree. We left Huntington Beach around 9 am in the morning en route to the National Park. I would like to point out I really love the fact there are so many wind farms out by Palm Springs that I saw along the way!
By the time we go there it was hot hot hot like around 94 Fahrenheit height (34 Celsius) which might not seem that hot but in the desert it is! The heat was beating down on us! We paid the $25 park entry fee for the day so we could drive through (It’s more if you choose to camp overnight).
We set off in the car and drove through the national park. I thought the landscape would pretty much stay the same all the way through but was I wrong!
I was completely taken back at the beautiful scenery in front of me and how nature can create such a magnificent landscape. If you’re an artist and looking for some inspiration, then this is a must-see destination!
Just when I think the view can’t get any better I’m pleasantly surprised by the new and interesting landscape that’s before me. It’s truly amazing how nature can create something so beautiful and diversified in such a desert-dry climate.
There’s stark landscape with hills in the background with different types of trees. Other times you’ll come across different rock formations which are different in each section. The diversity of such a large desert is quite astounding, it’s hard to believe there’s so much to see in one place what’s the same but it’s not, at the same time! Know what I mean?
Skull Rock Hike
We did the Skull Rock hike in the middle of the in the boiling hot sun. Maybe that time of the day wasn’t the best to be hiking but hey we did it anyway! By the end of the hike, we were both totally and utterly spent, I almost passed out from heat exhaustion in the car. You know that feeling when your hands and feet are tingling and you feel faint? Thankfully I had a banana and my block of chocolate had melted so I dipped my banana into my chocolate and drank some water and was instantly feeling better.
As you can see by my pictures the hike was well worth it!
The hotel is about 15 minutes from Joshua Tree. The staff are friendly, the rooms are large, clean and the beds are comfortable. The breakfast was great for the area, I had a banana and some oats with almond milk and a coffee. My friend had bacon and eggs and said they tasted good. Note there are not many places to eat around here so just be prepared! It’s very much in the middle of nowhere.

My Overview of Joshua Tree
I love and I mean love the way Joshua Tree can capture your heart and make you feel at one with nature. It made me feel so grounded and earthed. I highly recommend seeing Joshua Tree it’s well worth the drive out there.
Note: if you want to use the bathrooms before you go into the national park and you are allergic to bees have an Epipen ready. There are bees all through the toilet and in the sink because they come in to get a drink of water when it’s hot. Below in this picture, there are bees around me - this is the area where you pay to get into the park.
Until next time I travel, I see, I share... This is Character 32 doing her best to help you!
