It’s been years since I last stepped onto this pier and to be honest, I don’t really remember it that well…. It was back in 2006 when I was on my belated 7 week honeymoon between Europe and America.
Walking down the pier you will see there are rides everywhere and people in masses. Kids are running around scream and everyone is having a great time. It’s a happy and vibrant place filled with the awesome California vibe, who wouldn’t be happy down here? Check out the views!
Tourist Side of Santa Monica Pier
It seems like one side of the pier has more tourist activities and child friendly options with a fast food style eating area.
If you are a little more game, there are rides for all ages including a mini roller coaster and a Ferris Wheel, which I might have done but I was running out of time (great excuse! ha ha ha) I needed to get back to Huntington Beach before the 3 pm traffic hit or we would be crawling on the 405, which didn’t excite me too much!
Locals Side of Santa Monica Pier
On the other side, you’ll come across the locals doing the healthy living thing which I totally love! If I lived here I think I would come down and give it a go! There’s a kombucha station which is awesome, I mean who doesn’t love a kombucha?!? My saying is a kombucha a day keeps the doctor away! Food and other healthy options are also available at the other side of the pier where its’ more of the locals vs the tourists.
My Overview of Santa Monica Pier
It’s where the iconic route 66 starts (although they dismantled that years ago?? Why you wouldn’t keep it going for tourism purposes I don’t know??).
If you are in LA then come and check it out, there’s a little bit of something here for everyone. Ride on the rides, eat some burgers and drink a beer or take in some healthy options. Either way, this is a great tourist attraction in LA.
Until next time I travel, I see, I share... This is Character 32 doing her best to help you!
