On my California mini road tripping adventure, a friend and I took a drive from Huntington Beach to Laguna for the afternoon so I could check it out. I did a quick google search on places to eat and discovered The Deck and Active Culture. Torn between the two I decided to check both of them out and here's what I discovered…
Firstly, I will point out the obvious which is the views of the beach here are fantastic.
When my Taittinger Champagne first arrived, it was flat I couldn’t drink it, therefore, I told the wait staff and straight away they apologised and opened another bottle. There’s nothing like a nice crisp cold fresh glass of Taittinger – Happy woman now!
My friend and I ordered our meals and when his arrived I had such food envy, his smelt amazing! I had to try some (even though I’m gluten free I still had one mouth full!)… And let me tell you it was worth it!! His toasted cheese melted sandwich was out of this world. I had the tuna salad and it too was great (maybe not as good as his sandwich though!)…
Come one come all to the awesome place for all us gluten free organic eating people! Here’s like a little slice of paradise where you taste buds will go wild. I only got the opportunity to get a smoothie (which was awesome!!) because I’d had lunch at The Deck. However, that being said if I had the time I would have eaten here in a heartbeat. The staff are so friendly and helpful I would love to go back. If you are there I highly recommend the Moonlight Mint Shake it’s out of this world good!
My overview of eating in Laguna Beach
Being in Laguna a very wealthy affluent area I was expecting a very pretentious dining experience however it was the total opposite.
At The Deck, you will find friendly staff, fantastic beach views and a great bar if you're only wanting to go and have a drink. Overall I was so impressed however I must warn you to be prepared for a little wait but in my experience, it’s worth it!
The Deck Location: 627 Sleepy Hollow Lane, Laguna Beach, CA 92651
At Active Culture, again they were super friendly, nice and helpful. The place had a really nice relaxing vibe about it. Plus, the look of their self-serve yogurt selection was so tempting if only I could fit more in! ha ha ha
Active Culture Location: 1006 S. Coast Hwy, Laguna Beach, CA 92651
So, if you’re in Laguna Beach check out The Deck and have a glass of Taittinger for me, or be healthy at Active Culture enjoying great food or a nice smoothie!
Until next time I travel, I see, I share... This is Character 32 doing her best to help you!
