‘Flashback’ to the year 2010 when I hubby and I first went to Las Vegas. It was in June and I still remember how hot it was, I felt like melting! On the upside, it’s a great excuse for some frozen yogurt.
We've returned to Las Vegas with friends twice since then and had a fantastic time. All of which I’ll blog about soon however in the meantime back to the Grand Canyon…
Our helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam was one of those memorable experiences that I wanted to share. This post is not only for people who are interested in seeing the Grand Canyon in person but for those who might not be physically able to get there.
If you’re going to Las Vegas and thinking of seeing the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam by helicopter, here’s what you’re likely to see. I have so many photos I didn’t know where to start. So here are a few to give you some idea of what this incredible natural landscape looks like for way up high! If you look closely at the first photo you can see the wild brumbies!

Other ways to see the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam
I’ve spoken to people who have viewed the Grand Canyon by plane and have loved it. If flying or helicopters aren’t your thing fear not! There are bus tours out to the Canyon as well. Just ask your hotel concierge and they will help you with information.
My Overview of the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam from the Helicopter
Note it costs around $1,000 USD back in 2010 so I’m not sure what the cost is now, however, I’ll say it was worth it!
We only did the 2.5 hour ride because I’m slightly claustrophobic and being in the air, whilst in a confined space, jammed in with other people on a 40+ degree day outside, was a lot for me to take in all at once.
Although there’s air conditioning in the helicopter it’s still on the warm side. I’m just saying you need to be mentally prepared but it’s totally worth it!
I’ll admit I did have a few very brief moments when I thought I wouldn’t be able to control my panic attacks I felt coming on. Thankfully my husband was right by my side and calmed me down as soon as I felt them coming on. I have an awesome hubby!
All that aside I’m so glad we did it and I got to see it in real life! As you can see by my photos the views are truly incredible. So many great memories have come flooding back to me whilst doing this blog.
So if you’re thinking about seeing the Grand Canyon from the Helicopter, I hope I’ve helped you with your decision.
