There’s an annual telecommunication conference held in Hawaii in January at the Hilton Hawaii called PTC. Therefore, I’ve been fortunate enough to ‘holiday’ in Hawaii on 3 separate occasions. Meanwhile, my husband is working. Note, if you are vacationing here while the PTC conference is on be mindful it's very busy!
Whilst he’s off busy having back to back meetings for 14 + hours a day, I’m busy shopping and relaxing #toughlifeforsome
We stay at The Hilton where the conference is held yearly. This iconic large scale hotel is well known to all the locals. You would have seen it on TV shows like Hawaii Five-O for example. All rooms we’ve stayed in have been completely different and they have been large, clean and comfortable. This makes shopping easier because there’s always so much room for all the extra stuff you’ve bought ha ha ha #notmyfault
Over the years we’ve been fortunate enough to get rooms with great views. I can always step out onto the balcony and pop my head around the corner. Don’t you just love this view? Pretty tough to take.
So, what do I do when I’m in Hawaii whilst hubby is working?
My top 5 Things to do in Hawaii Waikiki
About a 1km walk from the Hilton is a massive shopping center called Alomoana. Here you will be in your element! Names, Names, Names darling….and more names such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Prada and Ralph Lauren. You’ll also find brands like Gap, Ann Taylor and Old Navy. Plus, there’s a Neiman Marcus as well. There’s a massive food court on the ground floor in the middle of the center. So, put on your comfortable walking shoes, it’s time to shop!
Here there are labels such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Armani, Armani Exchange, BCBG MAXAZRIA, Calvin Klein, Coach, DKNY and Department stores like Barneys New York and Saks Fifth Ave.
We organized a shopping trip out to the Waikiki outlets which the wonderful staff at the Hilton took care of. You pay for the round trip by bus which picks you up from the resort and takes you straight to the outlet.
They have shuttles running throughout the day. Once you’ve ‘Shopped till you drop’ you can then let them take you back to a little slice of paradise for that relaxing cocktail you earned!
This is where I purchased a pair of my gold strapped Monolo flip flops with a cork soul, I also purchased this grey bag at Barneys, and the white Ralph shirt which I’m wearing here on Waikiki beach!
One of our friends is a crazy mad golfer and plays at every opportunity globally! We arrived a day or two early before the conference so we could play golf. As you can see by my photos the course is unreal! This course is up there in my top 5 favourite places to play golf around the world.
4. Enjoy Waikiki beach
I really don’t need to say much about this beach….really do I? Come to Hawaii and enjoy Waikiki beach. What more do I need to say? There are lots of water sports on offer and sailing so enjoy!
5. Check out the Hilton resort
If the Hilton is booked out and there’s no availability I would highly recommend coming and checking it out!
There are restaurants and bars located all around the resort. Sit down and enjoy a cocktail or two whilst eating some great food!
You can see animals like penguins, flamingos, and fish which are located around the resort. There's also a massive lagoon for the kids to swim in if they're not ready for the beach.
There’s high-end shopping available with boutiques like Louis Vuitton, which is where hubby purchased my black LV scarf (thank you hubby!).
My Overview of Hawaii Waikiki
Sometimes we just need a vacation where we can switch off and unwind from the world. And that’s exactly what you can do here. Spend the days eating, shopping and take in a game of golf or two! In the evenings, wear your new outfit and relax with a cocktail enjoying the sunsets. All the while taking in the local relaxed vibe and let the stress melt away.
Wish I was there now!
Until next time I travel, I see, I share... This is Character 32 doing her best to help you!
