Sorry for the late review but it’s better to be late than never!

Over the Australia Day long weekend, we decided to head on home for a quick 48 hour turn around trip. We arrived from an overnight flight from Singapore into Coolangatta Airport (Gold Coast, Queensland) then drove up to Brisbane where we checked into our hotel.

Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane

We always try and stay at Starwood Hotels because my husband is a gold member and we find their hotels to be great. So needless to say the staff here are wonderful and checked us in early as they could clearly see we needed a shower and rest. An extra bonus is the great coffee from the café in the lobby of the hotel giving us the much needed pick me up we needed!

The location of the hotel is fantastic as it’s a short walk to many different bars, restaurants, the river and Queen Street Mall.

The rooms are not huge however when you’re in such a great city like Brisbane, who wants to spend time in their room?

Cleanliness: 10 out of 10 / Bed Comfort: 10 out of 10 / Location: 10 out of 10

Charlies Raw Squeeze in Greenslopes

We went to Greenslopes (about 4km from the city) to check out some property and I discovered this juice bar called Charlies. Well, needless to say, it was so good we drove back the next day. The fabulous ladies who work there hooked us up with best green juices, food and kombucha (which was a much needed pick me up from my serious hangover!) The food is fantastic and the desserts are so moreish you just want to keep going back. I was so busy enjoying my dessert I forgot to photograph it before I started devouring it… ha ha ha. This place is vegan which also accommodates for us gluten free, organic eaters who love to nourish the body. I travel the world and try juices everywhere and this Charlies is in my top 3 in the world!

Address 51 Old Cleveland Road, Greenslopes 4120

Brisbane River

When in Brisbane we enjoy being around the river area because there’s a great vibe with relaxed people around. There are many restaurants and bars located all along the water so you can pick and choose between them depending on what you feel like eating.

Sake

Sake restaurant is located along the Brisbane river (Eagle Street Pier) on the first floor next to the Bavarian Bier Café.

The staff here are really friendly and welcoming making it a nice change from the Sydney pretentiousness we experience when visiting our old home town.

The food is out of this world AMAZING!! As you can see by my pictures, not only is the presentation fantastic….it tastes even better than it looks (I didn’t know that was possible!). I have also eaten at Sake The Rocks Sydney a few times (review coming soon here). However, I will say Sake Brisbane is better than Sake The Rocks Sydney (sorry Sydney). Note: I was taking these pictures with my phone camera so they don’t do the food justice.

Gresham Bar

When we were paying our bill at Sake the nice guy suggested a great bar for martinis so off to The Gresham Bar we went! You will not be disappointed, this bar is great and the bar tenders make a good martini.

You can take a day trip to Maroochydoore

The next day we headed up to Maroochydoore to see some family members where we went to The Wharf for a quick bit and something to drink. The scenery is beautiful and it’s a really relaxed place. The pictures don’t do it justice. It reminds me of the Gold Coast in a way, just quieter and less densely populated.

My Overview of Brisbane

I used to live in Brisbane and going back there reminded me what a great city it is. It’s got a great vibe about it, people are happy, positive and friendly. Around the river is a great location, I highly recommend you check it out and it’s a quick walk from Four Points By Sheraton. Enjoy this great city with its great food and drinking venues. It’s sure to please.

We will be staying in this hotel again, eating at Sake and going to Charlies for juice when we return to Brisbane again in the new year to check on the property progress.

Until next time I travel, I see, I share... This is Character 32 doing her best to help you!
